Laptop: Too good to be true..?

Hi there,
It's time to replace my ageing laptop and have been looking at Dell. I like the XPS M1330 which seems to fit most of my needs and found one on gumtree for £300 which seems very low. The seller says he bought it from amazon and it's basically new. He's selling as work have given him a laptop. He has all the receipts/boxes etc.. and will happily pay through payal (he's verrified) and post using royal mail or I can collect (although it's quite far). He assures me that I can transfer ownership and the Dell warranty will remain valid.
What are peoples thoughts on this? In particular, could this be a stolen item- and what might be the consequences of that-is it traceable? Is the warranty claim true and how protected am I by the payment/delivery option.

Anyone got any other methods of getting cheap laptops? I'm lookign for something small and mobile, fast and fairly robust. Mainly using for browsing, Office, itunes and limited media.
Thanks for your help.

  • If you feel it is to good to be true then you have answered your own questions.

How much are Dell charging for this model new? Is it £300 good value or very cheap.

I would not touch it with a barge pole, after all how do you know the receipts are real.
