Help with postage

Does anyone know what will be the cheapest way for me to send some toys that i am going to be selling on ebay. I have looked on the royal mail website but it looks like it will cost a fortune. Also i would like the person who buys them to sign for them on arrival so i know they have got there ok. Does this cost alot more?

Thanks in advance ;)

It will depend on the weight. You can send packets at say 1 kg for £2.92 with Royal Mail + 75p if you want it sent recorded (£2.30 if you use 2nd class + 75p recorded).

for me anything up to approx 8 quid postage is cheapest at RM. all the rest i use a courier. my courier will take almost any carton/box up to 25 kilos for the same cost.
i also use a courier for anything valuable.
    Get some gorm.
  • if you are talking about a large/heavy parcel, then the best to use is payperdrop, you can find them on ebay. They charge £6 for anything up to 30kg i think.. they also have a fantastic reputation.... very fast delivery etc.

That link goes through to a brand new seller with no feedback. I know payperdrop had been getting a bit of negative feedback both here and on ebay and don't know if this is the same person or whether someone just trading on the name, so be careful.

  • As others have said, it will depend on the size & weight of the parcel, but I find Parcelforce useful.

Parcel your item up & measure dimensions & weight. (Bathrooms scales?) You can then go onto their website & get a quote. You can book & pay online..they collect from your door bringing the paperwork with them. Item is fully tracked & signed for.

If you find your parcel will be too expensive this way, you will probably need to look for a courier.

Hey yeh, i looked into it further and noticed that myself... I was shocked! Payperdrop used to be so popular, but now they have had shocking ammounts of negs!!! It seems many of their customers have given up on them... So no-one use my recommendation please! lol :o

They weigh around 1.8kg. If you send recorded does that mean if the royal mail lose the parcel you can claim compensation and get the value of the item back?

    Thanks

yes up to £34. but you don't need to send recorded as standard 1st class, 2nd class and standard parcels with a certificate of posting also gives £34 compensation.
