Need a part time job but can't find one!

Hi there,
I'm an associate university lecturer Mon-Wed, but unfortunately that doesn't pay enough to cover my mortgage.
I therefore need another part time job, but I'm struggling as Sheffield (where I'm based) is a Student town and at this time of year jobs in bars/shops are like gold dust.
I would have looked earlier but my previous employer had agreed to keep me on, working thurs and fri, but then changed their mind.
I've tried a few agencies but most won't touch me due to the specific nature of my requirements (which really annoys me as I can work thurs, fri, sat, sun, and evenings).
I need help!!!!!
Btw. I have experience in Admin, retail & catering. My teo most recent positions have been Sales Support Team Leader for a small Telesales Co. and Private Investigator/Enquiry Agent.

What about call centre staff, you tried the local paper for sheffield, how about royal mail i know they were looking for staff but it might be a bit late now, how about the supermarkets round thereNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Thanks will have a look at call centres, I applied for a call centre job with William Hill but they never contacted me.
The job pages of the local paper are ridiculously thin, will def. have a look at royal mail though.
Unfortunately, I'm stuffed when it comes to supermarkets as I can't drive and they are all difficult to get to from where I live without a car.0 -
Have you tried the Student Union? Ours run their own temp agency supplying student workers for casual labour in catering etc around the campus.
I work in a large university library and we have loads of part-time positions which are ideal for students or people in your position. You could try asking HR for information on jobs within the college.0 -
Hi
Are you able to commute at all?

Hi Janine, I'm in Sheffield as well, have you tried the supermarkets, I used to work pt in Tesco on Abbeydale Rd, they are always looking for people and they usually have lots of different shifts so there is bound to be one that suits, as an aside avoid the deli counter if you do apply and they get paid more on checkouts because they handle cash.
It is tricky with all the students ,good luck in your search or how about a lodger?

Tends to have a broader range than the paper and agencies becuase it's free to advertise0 -
Hi sorry about the delay in posting.
Filigree - I would love to work in the library but there are no positions available, I have considered applying for other jobs within the university but I'm a bit fussy (not snobby at all I promise!) about what jobs I take on campus as I'm teaching - don't really want to be teaching them one minute and serving them lunch the next!
Lisa - I'm not really able to commute, can cover a reasonable distance by public transport - also don't really want to commute that far for part time hours.
Sam - Thanks, I will struggle to get to most of the supermarkets, but could possibly get up to Abbeydale Road providing there was public transport (thinking of evening shifts there)
Mummy26 - I've lost the facility to PM for some unknown reason, sorry! Would really appreciate it if you could put a word in somewhere, I've found in Sheffield (been jobhunting a couple of times here) that the job market seems to be largely controlled by agencies, several of whom won't touch me as I already have a job and am therefore "specific" about when I can work.
silvercharming - thanks for the tip - will look into that.0
