What's the deal?

Simple really; Virgin is offering a free PAYG sim card with £5 free credit.

How to get your sim

Just go to the Virgin site and enter your details and you should get your sim within 2 weeks.

To start using your free sim card, put it into any unlocked handset. For info on how to unlock your handset read Mobile Unlocking: Unlock The Savings.

Get an extra £2 credit

Thanks to YPaymoree for spotting this. If you set up to Virgin's online account service you'll get an extra £2 airtime on top of the £5 that comes with the sim card plus two free downloads (either a ringtone, pic or game). You can use the online service to check your balance, see your latest calls or top up online. If you don't use it you'll still get your £2 though.

Do the unlocking services mentioned on this site include the 3 network locked phones?

free SIM with £5 credit is great only if you are making calls to Virgin phones only, calls to other network is 35p per minute, other networks only charge 15p, so look out.
