Do I have a ppi claim?

Hi in the nineties I took advice from a financial adviser who at the time was based in an office with a local estate agent
He got me a mortgage through Barclays which I’m and have been more than happy with. He informed me that to get this motgage I had to take other additions like critical insurance;life insurance and a payment shield all of which I did. Now I’m wondering if this ppi and if I have a claim?

Payment Shield was/is an excellent financial product which was/is very highly regarded.
It is indeed Payment Protection Insurance, but it is a comprehensive cover designed to protect probably the most expensive item you own, your home.
Do note that mortgage payment protection insurance is still retailed today and does not suffer from the same generic faults as loan or credit card PPI.
So it's difficult to see how you may have been mis-sold this insurance two decades ago, but why do you think it was?0 -
Now I!!!8217;m wondering if this ppi and if I have a claim?
Paymentshield is a quality provider. You can still buy their MPPI today.
No, you do not have a complaint. regulation didn't start until January 2005. you bought in the nineties.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I was told I must have it, it also incorported life and critical illness, he then sold me a further critical insurance policy and a life insuranec policy? I did not make a request for any of this but was told I needed to to get my mortgate!0

I was told I must have it, it also incorported life and critical illness,
Paymentshield have never sold life assurance or critical illness cover. So, it is quite normal to have that as a second policy.
You probably did have a financial need. It is also probable that the broker used the insurance commission to give you the mortgage advice for free.I did not make a request for any of this but was told I needed to to get my mortgate!
However, none of this matters. It is way before regulation.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Any reason why you have returned over four months later to tell us this? What have you been doing in the interim?Rosie_Sweeney wrote: »I was told I must have it, it also incorported life and critical illness, he then sold me a further critical insurance policy and a life insuranec policy?0
