Privately settle?
I admittedly caused a small accident. I pulled out in front of a car and caused some damage - my mental health hasn’t be brilliant the past month or so. Her car is worth £3000 (according to the garage) and she received a quote of over £2000 to have it fixed. Now, this woman isn’t exactly reliable and keeps telling me how amazing that body work shop is because she goes there a lot (so that got me thinking). Anyway, I was going to pay out of pocket because I’m only 24, I have 3yrs NCB and if I did go through insurance, it was set to go up to £130 a month!
I was wondering if anyone had any examples of a private settlement form? I tried searching online.
Thank you!

Won’t you’re insurance go up anyway by declaring the accident?0 -
My insurance only went up £5 for telling them about it0

Sorry, £5 a month.0

Well given you!!!8217;ve renewed your annual policy since the accident for two grand I!!!8217;d put it through the insurance.0

I haven’t renewed my policy, all I did was phone them and told them about the accident but for information only, not a claim. That’s why my monthly amount went up £5 a month. If I had made a claim my premium would have gone up around £1000 because I’m a young driver.0

£1000 extra insurance is less than paying the person £2000 and saves any hassle if the deal goes south. This is what insurance is for.I haven’t renewed my policy, all I did was phone them and told them about the accident but for information only, not a claim. I understand that it’s less at the moment, however, I would lose my no claims bonus (3yrs) and my premium would be high for the next few years (according to all the insurance sites I’ve read). That’s why I wanted to do it privately.0

If your mental health is resulting in you having accidents you need to consider whether you're safe to continue driving as much for your own safety as anything. Had it been a 44 tonne truck you'd pulled out in front of the outcome may have been a whole lot worse if there'd been an impact as usually in car vs 44 tonne truck the car doesn't do so well. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yeah, apparently when you tell them, your monthly payment goes up...I’m with Hastings - never been with them before until now.0
