This is true, but whats not to say it wont run strong for another good run of years. Its is always tempting.
Grass greener on the other side etc..
Generally I am happy enough with my Vanguard Fund though..0 -
It's less than 8 years old and has only experienced a bull market. Over 20 years I would not expect it to beat a global tracker.
The thing is Fundsmith is actually designed to do better during a bear market than a bull market. Its defensive compared to the index. I would not be surprised if it does even better during downturns. I certainly own it for its defensive properties - the steady growth is certainly nice too0 -
What are the figures for their long term gains? Over 30 years is it any better than say just investing in an entire index such as S&P 500 which has grown by 1000% over the last 30 year period?
In the past 30 years or so. Out of 25,000 US listed only 800 companies have beaten inflation.
Stats are just stats. Underneath there's a lot of interesting information.0 -

Not entirely sure a concentrated portfolio of large cap growth stocks is overly defensive0 -

Indeed. Terry Smith is fond of telling us how well his stock picks will do in a downturn but that is untested and far from certain.0
