Toilet seat return

Hi,I bought a toilet seat yesterday.I checked the website beforehand to make sure it was the type I wanted, then went ahead and reserved it.When I went to fit it,I discovered that it was not the fittings, that A,I wanted,or B as advertised.I went ahead and tried to fit it only to discover that no matter how I tried the fittings either didn't click into place or when they did, they all fell off whilst fitting. However,I have noticed a label that says if the plastic is off the seat is non returnable.Does any one know if I am entitled to a refund?
Thanks, Tulip

If it doesn't match its description then yes, you'll be able to return it as the goods don't conform to contract.
If however it was a case of you purchasing the wrong thing then it would get a bit more tricky. If you only reserved it online (and paid for it in person when collecting) then you'd be wholly reliant on their returns policy. If you had purchased it online (even if you collected it in person) then it would be a distance sale. Distance sale gives you the right to cancel most contracts. There is an exception for goods that are sealed for hygiene purposes, but only if they become unsealed after delivery and only if the retailer informs you of the conditions on the right to cancel (including that the right to cancel will be lost if you unseal the goods). You keep using that word. Thanks Unholyangel,
When I clicked on the instructions under the description, they were for a totally different fitting than what the instructions were in the pack. I checked this before purchase.I also contacted their chat help and they said that I should tell store that item was not as described. My concern is more that I opened and tried to fit it.In doing so though,I discovered that the fittings don't fit properly,so,Im hoping,I get something back, even if its only a credit note.

If it didn't match its description then they should give you a full refund (and it should be by the same method you used to pay for it, unless you agree otherwise).
So you shouldn't have to accept a credit note. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Doubt it. You could have checked the fittings supplied before taking off the plastic I presume?0

Toilet seat fittings are pretty standard, it's difficult to get it wrong.0

The parts were very close to those in the pic,but the back fitting was different.Basically,in the pic online, you put the screw things through the hole and fixed them, but what I have you put the screws into an extra piece of plastic and slide those onto the seat first. However, when I tried to do that the pieces didn't fit properly.

And not even true, there are several different types of common fittings and I'd imagine more uncommon types.0 -
if you cant get the seat to fit i would say you have nothing to go on.0
