Sony Vaio Webcam Help needed - PLEASE

I have a sony vaio VGN-FZ18E laptop with an integrated webcam (called a motion eye).
However, none of the programs that use a webcam (skype, msn, yahoo etc) recognise its exsistance. EIther they show as either not having a webcam ata ll or that it is in use by another program (which it is not - as far as I am aware!)
Having looked at the driver it says that the cam is working correctly, and I have restarted the laptop, but all to no avail.
Any help for me out there please??

Have you actually tried starting the built in camera first and then seeing if Skype will actually pick it up . Just thinking out loud, if I didnt plug in my usb we cam first it wouldnt be working so I would get the same error as you..............if you see what I mean

I have no idea how to start it outside of a program!

On the Acer I think I stared it in start, programs and clicked on the camera and it started on the desk top

Mmmm, I hate the thought that someone has a problem and cant be fixed, replying to this to get it back on the main page, maybe someone else can shed some light,...... by the way, have you tried the user manual, you must have to do something to get the camera working and I'm sure Skype will pick it up from there.....

Don't you have motion eye icon or something in My Computers? Have you clicked that?
Otherwise, try downloading the drivers for it.
Or try Splitcam;)

It's a free software http://www.splitcamera.com/
A lot of Skype users with webcam problems use them. I've used it on my Vaio laptop with webcam built-in as well, though mine does not have any problems - yet;)
