Garden fence cowboys

Options
Hello
I hope someone can tell me the right procedure to follow, as I think I've employed a cowboy fencer.
Said the job would take two weeks starting on Wed 30 May.
Delayed till Fri 1 Jun (didn't show)
Kept saying he would show up the next day, but didn't
Turned up Wed 6 June at 3pm, took down fence.
Didn't show up for the rest of the week, saying waiting for fence posts to arrive.
A few fence posts arrive and placed on the lawn.
Says he will be back tomorrow.
Not seen since, but keeps saying he will be there tomorrow.

I stupidly paid half the money so he could by supplies.

I really want to get rid of him, as I don't think he'll ever turn up.

What do I do? Can I sack him? Do I write him a letter? I want to make sure I do it properly, so I can go to court and get my money back (even then I doubt he'll pay).

Do I need to give him more chances?

Any advice would be great.

What is the length of the fence ?
Have all the fence panels, posts, gravel boards, and post-crete been delivered to yourself ?

If the materials delivered to date are equal in value to what you have paid the guy, then giving him the boot is an option.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Hello I'm not sure exactly how big the fence is. It's all the way around the garden and down the drive. He has delivered 7 posts and 6 panels, which I think does one side. I think that I've paid him more than the panels/work would equate. But I'm just not sure, just how many times I except ' I'll be there tomorrow' and he never shows up.
    Sorry for sounding so vague.
    Thanks

Did you not get some sort of quote or estimate with the measurements on it?

How much have you paid him so far?

Did you check any work he has done locally?
