    Are they pure aluminium?

If not, then maybe they've changed the alloy?

Maybe they are Aluminimum instead of Alumaximum?

I think they mostly use Alumedium. . .

I think pretty well all aluminium is alloyed with something.
I know a bit about the process generally, but I'm no expert.

I can't see the point in going too thin though. The sides of the cans are already like foil more or less.

0.097mm which I make just under 4 thousandths of an inch.

I meant that if they've changed the alloy constituents/proportions to something cheaper, it might have made it more susceptible to bursting.

  • But why do it only for Aldi's cans?

It might not be only Aldi cans..

Do an experiment....... buy different makes of Coke, and then drop each one from a set height, and see which, if any, explode.

If they all do, then all the cans are the same!

I got sprayed with beer after a cashier clipped a can on the edge of the counter. Co-op so thin cans not exclusive to Aldi.

    Complete waste of beer :(

Could have done, but I'd guess that it'd be minimal gains. You have to have an alloy with certain properties to allow the drawing process.
Mind you I never underestimate the the ingenuity of some people to ignore the law of sod, and go ahead with some mad plan to save a tenth of a pence on a million units thus proving that what can go wrong, will go wrong.
They say that you're not supposed to drop the cans. :)

That's perhaps because the two go hand -in -hand?

You can do the one while you're trying to do the other!

An average drinks can today is 2g lighter than it was in 1990 and can take less than 60 days from being produced, filled, distributed, consumed, collected and recycled back into a can.
Cans are filled before the tops are fitted and are sent to the customer with no top on them from the manufacturing plant, they then fill them and attach the top on a high speed production line.
