  • Are we [STRIKE]drinking[/STRIKE] talking coke coke or Aldi coke?

I wasn't sure whether you were [STRIKE]coking[/STRIKE] joking at first, but coke is to can as can is to coke, and Aldi or not to Aldi doesn't matter.

Did seams on the rim at the top come apart? if so it may be worth lodging a complaint. They will have seam analysis data for the batch they can examine.

Sooner or later someone will come to this thread having suffered exactly the same fate and I'll then feel vindicated and validated

Well ... I won't say that it's NEVER happened to me ;), but so long ago and before we had an Aldi here, so can't put the blame there.

Cheer up! Dropping a few cans of coke doesn't make you a clutz! :)

Ouch! That could be severely detrimental to ones health! I hope you don't do that too often especially not with thin walled cans of coke because if you did it would be like a zombie apocalypse
No, it was only the once! Once was enough! Tore a muscle in my leg.

I can't see the Coke explosion happening, as I don't like Coke! :D

I'll have a bet that they cans are as thin as possible anyway.
They're "deep drawn" AFAIK, basically a forming tool like a piston, pushes the circle of aluminium down a hole just a bit smaller than the forming tool which means that sides of the can are thinner than the bottom from the process.
Can't see them changing the machinery to save a tiny percentage on each one. I'll bet they're already near the limit.

    Are they pure aluminium?

If not, then maybe they've changed the alloy?

I think pretty well all aluminium is alloyed with something.
I know a bit about the process generally, but I'm no expert.

I can't see the point in going too thin though. The sides of the cans are already like foil more or less.

0.097mm which I make just under 4 thousandths of an inch.
