Credit Protection Insurance loan reclaim

I have a Midland Bank loan agreement from 1997. The same document sets out the terms of a credit protection insurance loan. This looks like a loan to pay for PPI in one lump sum. Do I need bank statements to make a claim as the PPI was paid in one lump sum and subsequent payments would be loan repayments?
HSBC say they have no evidence at all.
Thanks in anticipation.

Unfortunately, such documentation proves nothing, since it's even possible you cancelled the PPI during the cooling off period. If neither you nor the Bank have anything proving you paid said finance from two decades ago, there is nowhere you can go with this.
  • Hi I had a mortgage with Northen Rock set up by a company called 50/50 Finance who have since 'closed shop', I'm presuming I am not able to claim PPI from them?

If this was prior to 2005, then there is no one for you to complain to.

Did you even have PPI on this mortgage?
  • Ive got a claim running at the moment, and had the same as you 3 loans, each consolidating a previous one, fortunately I had my bank statements too which detailed the monthly payment made. I have to say HSBC have been very tardy and haphazard in their correspondence will me, some very cut/paste letters, anyway still awaiting a decision on a claim submitted at the end of March 18.
