307 MOT failed on emissions

OK I put this to the test.
Three years ago: Thrashed car to MoT station; failed on emissions completely. Garage sold me some additive and told me to take it for a run for 30 mins and come back. On return it passed the BET test (Basic Emissions Test).
Last two years pre-MoT I have used additives and given the car a good run and it has passed the BET test .
This year no additives but it had a really good thrash pre-MoT and it was tested straight away. Result: failed BET test but it did fortunately pass the less stringent model-specific test for my car.
My conclusion from my own experience is that Wynns emission reducer and Cataclean do make a difference of about 25% in emmission reduction compared to no additive. I have watched the emission test being done and noted the figures involved.0 -
cataclean is good stuff (assuming you dont have unrealistic expectations), don't listen to the jokers who would have you replace a very expensive part before trying the alternative, worst case you are down fifteen bucks and change. Even if it just puts off buying a new cat for a year or two, gives you the chance to save for it if you have to.
The main bit which will help will be the spirited driving for twenty mins. drop it off at the test centre just after, good to do to your car for general well being anyway to be honest, clear it out a bit.0
