Hi all

Bit of an odd question for any technical people out there.
A friend of mine has an Acer Aspire (I think) laptop which had Windows XP on it.
They've now installed Windows Vista and hate it.

Is there any way of rolling back to XP without a great deal of hassle and the XP disc?

Cant be rolled back as far as im aware, you will need a complete re-install using the disks.................They would have the disks supplied (xp)or the os would be on a partition on the hard drive............ I await other comments..

It looks like there are 2 partitions - how do I select which partition to use and how do I check if XP is on the other partition?

Vista would have installed itself over xp so that will no longer be on the partition. What size were the partitions showing as?

before you go any further what have you done to get this far. I presume you have found the re-install disk for xp and stuck that in... post a few more details.....as to what you are doing, and have you backed up any docs , pics etc that they may have, you dont want to lose anything important.

OK - it's not my machine but I was told to press F10 when it was bnooting which I did.
That showed 2 partitions (sizes unknown) a command line prompt of some description but I can't remember what it said.

Re-install discs were never given to the owner whan the laptop was purchased so I've told her to go and request them.

How do I check what size the partitions are and if XP is on the other one?
