Some Advice
Hi
I would be grateful if some can help late lat weds early Thursday Morning my car was keyed on the passenger side I was shocked to see that as being an in the gated secure garage in my block of flats
As I took photos of the damage and contacted the management company and asked if the could help
The advised the would look into the CCTV and see if have got anything and I got a call late Thursday advised the got something firstly said come and see and then 10 mins later got a call to say they can not allow me to view the CCTV due to data protection
And thus need to get a crime reference and the police can see it
Done that now got call need to get a quotes
I need to ask if there is any chance of me getting from this issue from the person who did this as not want to fork and then get NIll from the person who did this
As the car is 2 years old and not want to lose NCB can you advise what is the best way forward as each day I see the scatch I get worked up so much
Await your responses

Hi

See if "chips away" or similar can do it, otherwise get quotes from a couple of bodyshops and pay for it out of your pocket or claim on insurance and take the NCB hit and subsequent premium hike.
If you get worked up every time you see it it will just affect your health/sanity, so either arrange not to see it, by always approaching from the drivers side, or pay to fix it. There is no realistic chance of getting the person who did it to pay.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Your post isn't making much sense to be honest - ask the management company to copy the CCTV and get the police to view it. If someone is identifiable then pursue the police into making a prosecution or arranging that you wont press charges if they pay.
If its a gated set of flats, the chances of it been someone from outwith the flats is low, so surely the police and any caretaker will be able to identify whom it is?0 -
The police are now asking for the CCTV copy to be emailed and then it will be seen if the can see who did and ask for cover the cost of the damage lets see that is what i want to cover the cost of damage then no further action as time is money0

If I have 6 years NCB why in am losing 3 years when or if I make a claim for the criminal damage? but as the damage happened before my last renewal thus it will now increase the premium for this year0

You are making a claim and as it's a no claims bonus, you will lose some of it. (the amount depends on the T&C's of your policy.
Even though the damage was caused by someone else, it doesn't class as a non fault claim unless the insurer can reclaim the money paid out from whoever caused the damage.0 -
so is best to pay to have NCB protected or not?0

I would always have protected NCB.
However, it's worth remembering that although your NCB might be protected, this doesn't mean that in the event of making a claim your premium won't rise. All it means is that the NCB may stay the same but the base premium can still rise.0
