W10 update problem

I download the new update but it fails to install, three times now. The option to shut off power without updating is not available, so I have to download each evening, each morning the laptop is installing and then I get a message about it failing to install and then I sit through the 'going back to previous version' thing.

My search on how to stop the automatic updates has been fruitless as every option fails to work.

Windows can't find gpedit.msc

I tried looking for something (can't recall) called appraiser....xml - not found.

Is there a simpler way please? I've a Dell Inspiron 64bit on W10.

Thanks

The advice on how to stop - or at least suspend/curtail automatic updates has been given very frequently in this forum alone since New Year. I should be pretty easy to find..!

Thanks to the others who offered solutions (as opposed to a telling off), I will give them a go this morning.

This is only in the Pro and Enterprise versions. It is not in the Home version.
