Early MOT in Northern Ireland?
Is there any way of getting a car MOT'd before it's due in N.Ireland (car is 3.5 years old and not due until 4 years old)?
I've been told it's a maximum of 28 days before the 4th anniversary of registration. Can't find an answer online.

It's almost certainly the same as GB, in that you can test up to a month before the due date and keep the same expiry. If you're not worried about that, then you can test every day from new if you so wish.0

Apparently not

You cannot do that for the first MOT in GB just subsequent ones0

Unless things changed under the new regulations (earlier this month) you can / could MOT from new if you so wished (UK)
We have had technicians inadvertently MOT a Class 4 vehicle at one year old
VOSA confirm the test is valid although no requirement to re-test until the original required date0 -
"If a vehicle is being tested for the first time, for example, on the fourth anniversary of its registration, it legally cannot be tested more than 28 days early."0 -
I'm sure a garage would do an MOT but not put it on the system if you paid the fee. Not sure why you would want to though. An MOT is not a substitute for a service either.0

Whilst it was about 6 years ago, I put my car in for its first MOT about 2 weeks early in NI and the annual MOT date became that earlier date, rather than the 4th anniversary of registration. I!!!8217;m not aware of this having changed and only seems to apply to the first MOT - subsequent MOTs can be done up to 4 weeks early without impacting in future MOT dates.
MOTs aren!!!8217;t done by garages in Northern Ireland - they are done by government owned MOT centres, which is a much better system in my opinion.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

We are in the unfortunate situation in NI that garages cant do MOTS and we are at the liberty of government testing centres0
