Late License Penalty

Hi



I recently sold my car and mistakenly believed that it was the buyer's responsibility to forward the paperwork to the DVLA.


I've since found out that the car was not registered or taxed for 2 months after the sale, and have received a debt recovery notice and an £80 fine.


Is it worth appealing, as the car was not in my possesion for the time being charged for, or do I just pay the fine and learn the lesson?
