Extending mortgage offer

Hi all - we have a mortgage offer with platform due to expire next Saturday. How easy has everyone found it to extend? Do they require you to say for how long? We need it extended for a matter of days rather than months (should have exchanged Wednesday, excuses from solicitors you know the score..) we need to apply for extension Monday if not exchanged. Mortgage advisor thinks should be fine but can't guarantee ( partner has complex work and surprised at how smoothly the application went)
Did you have to resend pay slips etc? Im so worried they will refuse us!

Can you not start the process of extending the offer now, just in case?0

I did say this to my mortgage advisor but he said a few days notice would be more than enough. (He advised Monday evening to cover ourselves - he said the ideal is to get it done before hand. We've requested funds as suppose to be completing Wednesday)0
