General credit card ppi query

Recently discovered I had ppi on a Barclaycard credit card. Account has been closed for years. I have claimed and they have upheld my claim but offered me a very low amount based on their records. I’m tempted to appeal because I know at one stage I was spending a lot on the card. I’m trying to work out what I’m likely to have paid out in ppi. Does anyone know at what percentage Barclaycard used to levy ppi are?
Also, if I was to appeal, who would it be to? Barclays or the ombudsmen? What would be my chances of success?

You'll need to provide them with evidence of what you paid if you think they have missed some of your payments.
Applying a rough percentage won't mean anything.0 -
Don!!!8217;t have any evidence I!!!8217;m afraid, statements gone long ago. I!!!8217;m just trying to work out a figure that I!!!8217;m likely to have paid them, based on roughly how much I spent on the card.0

No idea where the exclamation marks came from btw....0

For what purpose? They won't pay out more than is evidenced.
If you calculate you paid a lot more, it'll only make you feel worse.0 -
You could try asking Barclaycard to give you details of how much you spent, how much you paid in PPI and how that PPI figure would have been calculated.
The point is, if you work it out to be higher based on what you spent, but you have no evidence of what you spent, then you're no further forward.0 -
You would refer your complaint (not "appeal") to the Ombudsman.magicspice wrote: »if I was to appeal, who would it be to? Barclays or the ombudsmen?
Without any documentary evidence from your own archive which contradicts the Bank's records, your chances of getting any more money are nil.magicspice wrote: »What would be my chances of success?
There really is no point in trying to work out what you "may" have paid. Only hard evidence would net you extra cash.

Hi everyone, thanks for your comments / experiences.
I spoke to the lady at Barclaycard yesterday and she suggested I put in a request for statement info held under GDPR. I don!!!8217;t think it!!!8217;ll improve my situation though.0 -
I agree. The Bank will already have properly searched their archives as part of the consideration of your complaint. Only if you believe they have failed to do so, should you request they look again.magicspice wrote: »I spoke to the lady at Barclaycard yesterday and she suggested I put in a request for statement info held under GDPR. As already noted, your only realistic hope of additional money is for you to provide documentary evidence from your own archive.0
