Buying a Probate Property

Options
My partner and I had an offer accepted on a property in mid-January.

At the time we did not know Probate was not granted. It is now 5 months later and we seem to be no-where near completion. I have chased our solicitor numerous times and all we get back is "I will chase this for you". Does anyone know how long this might take for us? And how to chase the status of probate ourselves? We did not anticipate it to take this long and the property is in such a tired state we just want to start work in there :(

If you haven't exchanged or anywhere near knowing an exchange date 5 months from offer accepted then lower your offer and look else where.

Sounds like there are problems with the Administrators of the Estate not ready to sell but put the property on the market anyway.

What you have there is a seller who is not proceedable. Without Grant of Probate, they are not in a position to sell.
