thanks for all the input folks - i do normally check trip advisor and when we booked, the reviews were nothing like what they are now.

HOWEVER - having nagged and nagged them, they have agreed a 50% refund. I'll take that! Seems persistence really does pay off. :T:T:T

Slightly similar but nowhere near as bad as Darwin Escapes and Hoseasons Lodges. In the sense that they expect their customers to check the lodges over once you check in and to report any issues. So they essentially get free work out of you because they don't employ specific people to go and check all lodges on turn around.

unfortunately until there is a major accident none of these cess-pits will be forced to change - and by then it will be too late.

    Never again!!!!

Much like the woman that died in the airing cupboard. Suggestions say it was due to lack of checks on the lodges on turn around.

We used to stay at ty mawr all the time as kids . Was the poshest and most going on place around . now its p1ss up party central but we have found this now with a lot of the big sites that offer static and camping . Ram them into a small space and let them get on with it . let them moan in the morning because they will be gone soon . Kiln park - shell island . beacon fell longridge etc .
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

its disgraceful. overcrowding i could cope with - it was just the dire state of everything else! still, mission accomplished on the refund! :T

We stayed a few times too when our daughter was little (She is now 27 and has many happy memories). We also stayed at other Haven sites. We have noticed when passing through the area how Ty Mawr and other sites have gone downhill with the type of people staying there. Such a shame when you think how it used to be. Sorry to say it, but a load of swearing drunken chavs is not what I want my holiday to be.
