Year old conservatory leaking

Options
Our 11/12 month old conservatory is leaking. We had a massive downpour about three weeks ago and it leaked where it joins/shares the new gutter with my parent's bungalow. The conservatory man came around today, one look outside and said the tiles needs lining up and flashing replaced.
My dad was not at home but mum was. Dad had a look at the rood other than the edge of the semi-detached property, tiles straight and slightly lifted at the edge to keep water on the roof, just like next door, etc, etc.

So they want dad to pay for it and he made it clear when the old one was pulled down and new one up, he did not want any problems with the gutters where it joined the house and the surveyor from the conservatory people assured him it would be ok.

What should my dad do next and like many, he does not trust roofers and why should he call a roofer as the conservatory is nearly new and we feel we've been fobbed off.

Thank you.

This is where you can end up in difficulty. Conservatories are not proper extensions and are not subjected to the same regulations. It's very easy for conservatory companies to run a mile once they've erected the thing and have your money. From your description it sounds like the conservatory rep is trying to shift blame to the tiling on the house, i.e. away from his responsibility. Short of firmly trying to push the point and agree another way forward, you can't compel them to do anything.

    Thanks for the post.

Update, been on the phone and spent two hours in total waiting put through to another erson/etc/etc - did not get far as they said its our roof. I've said why was this not picked up by the surveyor as i had clearly mentioned i was aware of leaks where pointed conservatories share a gutter with a property/bunglaow, they put the phone down.

Oh dear. It sounds like the best course of action is to get a roofing professional in to fix the problem and then consider claiming the cost of this from the conservatory company.

A family member had a conservatory and it leaked. It took a couple of years of come backs and call outs to put it right. Hopefully the job is sorted - no wet coming in over the last year.

A family friend was complaining at the same time that their conservatory leaked.

I have a neighbour whose conservatory leaks.

A conservatory that leaks is what anybody having a conservatory has to factor in. It goes with the territory. As Aylesbury Duck is saying, it is all unregulated work.

If you have a massive downpour once in a blue moon, can you live with that?

I dont want to be fobbed off again, how should I tackle them on the phone.

Me and my dad feels its their fault as they took down the old lean-to and put new one up with new gutter shared with the bungalow.

Your answer is here. You have thee phone put down because you should not be dealing by phone. So you do not do this again. Instead you do things by writing, and thus create a trail that can be shown in court - if it gets that far.

Thank you. Taken legal advice and they sent a letter, cost my day just under 250, hopefully that does the trick.
