DWP claiming we have hidden ISA accounts

Tell the DWP what actions you are taken to resolve the situation and the time frames involved you can supply evidence of that such as a copy of the email. This will get Compliance/Fraud to back off somewhat.
If they believe that they hold more information, that the accounts do belong to you, you can request full access to those details not just the last four digits, including names, addresses held on the accounts and information about transactions. If they are asserting that this is your information, then you have a right to view it in full under the GDPR. They have no right to with-hold your personal information. So I'd get it in full. You can then take that directly to Barclays.0 -
I would hope, xylophone, that they haven't just flagged us on name, and it is per NI number that has been crossreferenced.
As for accounts that could accru interest, it's not possible, we're bascially in minus figures across the board, there are no savings accounts.
DWP were quite specific that the ISAs are held with Barclays and no where else. I am signing up for that gov site though as I don't have an account in either.
Like Ezorqs suggested we have sent them an extensive list of what's been actioned so far along with copies of documentation from Barlcays. Will report back on any further developments!
I like the idea of turning it around and running the data request back at them though. I'm pretty sure I know the answer we'd be given!0 -
If they do not comply with the right of access request take it to your MP or the Information Commissioner's Office, they have a legal requirement to comply. To be fair they should have given you full disclosure from the beginning.
If they proceed anyway, appeal to the tribunal and at that point you'll be able to see all the evidence they have against you.0 -
We have been asked to provide statements for the accounts with strange combination of numbers and letters, apparently ISAs.Topcat1982 wrote: »
The account numbers they have provided me are a combination of letters & numbers which are not in the current Barclays account numbers formats, any ideas on this?
When I look at those numbers it dawned on me that they were our birth dates followed by our NI numbers but all written sort of backwards !!!
How funny, eh? Not so funny when you are searching deep and wide to find something which does not exist.
They asked for something like C456789ES/xxxx0215A which would be 15th Feb followed by SE987654C as NIN.0 -

Credit reports won't report on savings, just debts.0

we were born, 1984 / 1986. I think they were around then(?)
latest is that Barclays have sent us a letter telling us that they've recived our request and that it will take 30 days from the moment they review the request...if it's more complex it may take up to 90 days!
I look forward to seeing the back of this mess, but will update when we get answers!0 -

ISAs were introduced on 6 April 1999, replacing the earlier Personal Equity Plans (PEPs; very similar to a Stocks and Shares ISA) and Tax-Exempt Special Savings Accounts (TESSAs; very similar to a Cash ISA).

An individual aged 18 or over was able to open a TESSA with a bank, building society or other financial institution from 1 January 1991 to 5 April 1999.0 -
Well then, now I know its 100% nonsense, because a relative opening an account when we were born and not telling us was the only other *out there* theory we had! Thank you for that.0
