Money refunded to cancelled TSB card - £5k missing

  • Now I would like to file a compensation claim as it prevented me from profiting for two months of time (I do matched betting).

How can I assess the amount that would be reasonable to state in my claim? Prior to money disappearing, I was making £2k a month on average...

Also, what sort of evidence would I need to back my claim up? Also, I can go down CCs interests route as I have quite a few of them and technically I could have wanted to pay these cards off but them losing my money meant interest charges...

    Thanks,
    RD93

You lost their card so self inflicted.
So for loss of betting - nil points --- depending on how long you had to wait for the refunds after the retailers said they had sent it - well £50 or so would be appropriate.

Well I can give you a clue: you won't be able to claim for purported lost earnings from matched betting. Alternatively, you could have invested the money in an AIM share that 10-bagged and would have netted you £18k, but you wouldn't have been able to claim for that either.

You could claim for actual, demonstrable, financial losses you incurred, such as call charges, the cost of additional borrowing, etc. You can also ask for a goodwill payment for the impact the matter has had on you. I concur with jonesMUFCforever about the probable amount that could be, but see what they offer.

You may or may not need evidence. You should retain evidence in case it is needed. On trying to get interest for your existing borrowing out of TSB, I think this is again nil points, but, as above, if you added to your CC balances over the period, it might be reasonable to include 1-2 months interest on that spending, but not your whole balance (retain your CC statements as they might be needed).
