Thanks. Is there anything to stop me switching from a fixed term tariff with exit fees (prior to the 49 day countdown starting), to the EON energy plan (with no exit fees), then switching suppliers from the energy plan to get around the exit fees? I assume there must be, otherwise there would be no point of exit fees.

Hello Ian85 and no, there's nothing to stop you moving to Energy Plan now and then changing supplier. This way you avoid the exit fees although you'll pay more for your energy between going on to Energy Plan and when the switch completes.

Where suppliers have signed up to Faster Switching (most have but there are exceptions), the supply goes over in about two and half weeks. If not, the switch can take between 4-6 weeks.

Please be aware, to do the above, you need to switch to Energy Plan before starting a change of supplier. As I mentioned earlier (13 Feb 19), once a change of supplier is started, accounts are locked down and you won't be able to switch to another E.ON tariff including Energy Plan. This will mean staying on your current fixed tariff with exit fees until the change of supplier completes. If this happens outside of the renewal period, the exit fees will apply.

Hope this explains Ian85. Let me know if not clear as happy to help.

I did an internal switch today to EON Energyplan, my account shows I'm on that tariff.  Can I apply straight away to switch to another supplier or do I need to wait for the 14 day cooling off period to end, before applying for the switch?
    Thanks
