Old Style Daily Thursday 14th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
I want to keep myself busy this morning, so I am going to go through the house and get all of the housework out of the way, so that nothing needs doing for a few days.
Then I’m going to have a wander around the town and a coffee while I people watch for a while.
Then this evening I’m going out with a friend for dinner instead of meeting for our usual coffee this week.
Nothing exciting, but I’m quite happy to just be plodding along at the moment.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning Everyone
It's blowing a hoolie out there! Very windy and wet, at least the garden doesn't need watering. I see the garden bin is on its side - it can stay there for now.
When I got home yesterday I did absolutely nothing apart from watch TV, it was a lovely rest. Bed and asleep for 9 and I slept until 5. I'll tackle the washing when I get home tonight.
Typically we are supposed to have sports day today, it may be postponed!
Hope you're all well, have a happy Thursday, take care. XX0 -
Morning all.
Same nasty wild weather here as Camelot. The howling wind woke me up in the early hours and it all is getting progressively worse at time goes on. So strange after the three weeks of glorious sunshine. Perhaps my lawn will revert to green again, the straw colour was odd!
Just to mirror the awful weather I have an awful day ahead! An all day meeting -!!!- development day. I've packed a lunch and will gird my loins. The paperwork for it was emailed through yesterday late afternoon. One PowerPoint of approx 45 slides and another document of 43 pages.:eek: Obviously no-one has taught the HR person how to teach or use a PP!
For now I wish everyone a happy Thursday.0 -
Morning folks and thanks BTDT for the start. We have high winds here too but no rain is forecast and we desperately need some for the gardens! The front garden has escaped the wind unscathed but the back hasn't! The bird table has blown over, as have a few pots. Will go and rescue them when I get dressed.
One down and one to go! Today we have the Oncology clinic at St James. The appointment is 10.30 so the car should arrive just after 8.30. A chap rang last night to confirm he would be picking us up. Mr TA also has starving blood tests whilst there so nothing to eat and drink for him. I am hoping there will be something he can eat afterwards in the restaurant. No good packing him a sandwich as he can't digest them. Though I am filling him a small flask with milky coffee.
Yesterday's Urology clinic was brought forward 2 hours which was good, but, sadly, no joy with agreeing to have the stent removed. He was taken for x ray which showed the stent was where it should be but probably pressing on the bladder, causing him to make all the loo trips. They have prescribed some tablets which should help. I hope they do! Coming home in the rush hour from Leeds was a nightmare. It took the poor driver nearly 2 hours! It should have been no more than 50 mins at the most in normal traffic.
We should miss the rush hour today thankfully. Especially as we have the 3 DGDs here for late tea and sleepover after their swimming/diving club. Of course it has to be the usual Pasta Bolognese Bake or there would be a riot! The Bolognese is simmering away as I speak and I will do the pasta and cheese sauce when we get back. No rest for the wicked!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where wanted/needed, Especially BTDT and it's no good me saying try not to worry because it's just what I do, worrying about everything and meeting problems halfway. NELSKI I hope you are progressing well and doing what you are told! Take care all xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
beenthere_donethat - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy, dreich, dreary and very breezy, but not too cold. Dry underfoot too.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and veg, I forgot to get the meat out to defrost so stopped off en route home after work to buy the gammon steaks, they were tiny and I couldn't really think of anything else so bought them but also a pack of sausages, so we had a gammon steak and a sausage - don't want to be doing that very often though as the meat is getting to expensive. Tonight again I'm not sure - haven't planned very well and so now I'm not organised! I'll sort something out today.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, now on days' off.
So on to today -
I'll be going into town to visit the bank and building society, I have quite a bit of stuff to take to the recycling centre also. I'm thinking I may put the first load into the car, and stop off en route to town as that will get rid of the first car load - not sure how many trips I'm going to need to make! I'll spend quite a bit of today and tomorrow getting ready for the yard sale on Saturday, but of course I still need to do all the normal things too.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning chums up and about early today as I have to drive to the other side of Sittingbourne to my main dealership garage for my cars first year service.I shall take my book with me as I get free tea/coffee while I wait.I snaffled an 8.30.a.m. appointment which is like gold dust so hopefully should be finished by 10.00 at least I may go on and visit my sis-in-law in Faversham as I am down that way for a coffee and a quick shufti around the Macknade Farm shop which is always full of goodies
Weather here is dark and damp at the moment and showers are forecast and its not looking very promising at all but the garden needs some water so I don't mind ,saves me a job.

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's very dark and overcast outside with rain on the way but the temperature is at last more comfortable for me and I don't have to put the fan on. Steve has left for work and Phoebe is flitting around getting ready for school. She has her last exam today and feels fairly confident about it and then she has finished school. I can't believe my baby is so grown up, I feel quite emotional about it. It seems 5 minutes since she was holding my hand and skipping down the road for her first day in nursery. I was proud of her that day and I am still as proud of her now.
My eldest daughter Jemima came round to pick up the grandchildren last night and we had a good chat about various things including money and shopping, the upshot of it is she will take me to Aldi once a week in the evening when it is fairly quiet and I will stop all the online deliveries which are costing me a fortune. I am hugely looking forward to this not least because I get to spend some more time with Jemima. It will do me a lot of good to go out again as well.
I am making a rice dish tonight called dirty rice which I think refers to the colour of the finished meal not anything else. I have made it before and it went down well and as I recall it doesn't take long to prepare and cook. I will be bunging lots of extra veg in it though.
I hope you all have a great day today whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all,
No wind to speak of, no rain...no storm Hector here. It's a little cooler though than its been of late.
Youngest is really struggling with his hay fever at the moment and it kept him awake in the night but he's still gone to work.
I expect I'll see Prodigal later but that's about it. Thursday is usually my quietest day.
TA hope all goes well today at the hospital.
Onwards and forwards

No sun this morning and overcast and windynot as bad as you further north so take care.
Off to work for me we spent most of yesterday unpacking new kitchen equipment for the new build, we had to do it outside as there was no room so we were lifting and shifting huge boxes all day, I was shattered and slept very well all night !
Breaded chicken breast tonight with chips and peas so a nice easy dinner.
Right I had better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning Everyone,
Very overcast here, Windy and it has gone really dark outside and looks like the heavens are about to open.
I have work. Then a trip to charity shop with more items.
Went to moms bank - to request documents I need for when selling the house and to see whatever else is in there . Once I have seen them they can go back.
