Telephone calls

This seems to happen everyday. I look at the phone to see if there have been any calls and there are usually several in the window. I'm at home most of the time and usually in a room with a phone in but the phone doesn't ring even though it says there has been a call. It does ring when a genuine call comes in. It's several different numbers. I do look them up to see if they are nuisance calls sometimes they are and sometimes not. I never hear the telephone ringing for these calls.
Drives me round the bend;)

Phome make and model ? Landline or mobile phone ? If landline, I assume it's a cordless variety - does it have any kind of call screening ? Do you have caller-id enabled on the line ?
If mobile, which network ?0 -
Hi psychic teabag thanks for the reply.
It's a BT 4600 trio, landline. It is cordless. It does have call screening and caller id. We're with BT..
There have been 5 calls already today - 4 the same number nuisance call I believe and another call which is fairly local to us but I don't recognise the number. Didn't hear any ringing and I've been in a room with one of the phones most of the day.0 -
The call blocker is doing its job.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Ah I get that for the nuisance number but not the other one. My husband is waiting for a hospital appointment and I'm not sure if the other number was anything to do with that as it was the right code.0

My phone will block all calls unless in phone memory or approved by me,put the hospital number into the memory.0

You must have call block set to its most aggressive mode perhaps? With mine (BT8500) I have it set to reject blank, obviously incorrect, withheld and international numbers, announce numbers not in my contacts (so I can decide whether or not to take the call) and allow numbers in my contact list.
Another possibility ... whoever is calling is getting the "announce" message and then just hanging up.0
