Fathers Day 2018 - The Gifts

Options
Fathers Day is coming up this Sunday, and I am totally stuck on what to buy this year... he usually loves a good whiskey but that's totally predictable at this point.

What's everyone else doing this year? Anyone doing anything mega moneysaving?

  • Posting something on Facebook about how much they miss them seems to be a common one for most of my friends. Would that count as 'mega moneysaving'?
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Ordered keepsake/engraved gifts Sunday afternoon around 6pm, got home yesterday to find post man had delivered. :) Top service and quality. Both the glass block and parent’s wedding anniversary vase survived the journey! And it didn’t cost the earth.

    Indeed.
I'd love to have the dilemma of what to buy my much-loved and much-missed Dad. :(

Jamie Oliver’s “5 ingredient meals” cookbook for DH, who has taken up the cooking mantle since he retired at the start of the year. He’s a huge Jamie fan and has been eying up the book since the tv series started.

We’re shopping better and eating better, the freezer is full of batch-cooked meals, and best of all, dinner is ready for me when I get home!

I think it will be £12.99 well spent! ;)

(He is getting a new shirt from DS too)

  • I don't have a dad but my stepdad is having gifts and a meal out.
From me 2 x Crew polo shirts
    Massive bar of diary milk
    Gnome ( family joke )
    From dogs n ponies M & S voucher
    3 bottles microbrewery lager

He has 3 kids of his own but they ignore the day and two have no contact at all.

According to the 7 year old her Daddy's present is taking her to see Taylor Swift at Wembley. I don't think he sees it the same way :rotfl:

My late father never agreed with Fathers Day because it's just a modern commercial invention - I agreed with him.

Totally commercialised nowadays. Most presents above sound more like birthday gifts. My kids will just be making cards for daddy and maybe cut some flowers from the garden.
