Does any one know of a template for a Data Breach Compensation claim. DixonsCarphone warehouse have advised me my details have been breached and its up to me to be vigilant to any fraudulent activity - I have no idea who has taken my data or how this will affect me and feel super stressed. What can I do as an individual to stand up for my rights as its my time and energy thats going to be used due to their crap security systems:T? Many thanks and regards Kelly

What losses have you actually experienced?
You won't get compensation just because you feel "super stressed".
It sounds to me like you are simply being advised that your details have somehow been accessed and that you should simply be extra vigilant in case of fraudulent activity.
Are Carphone Warehouse actually stating the breach is their fault?0 -
Just be super careful going forward.2

Make sure you ring your local newspaper and get a photograph looking really worried to try and get your compo for non-existent losses
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

There is no template as compensation payments are rare.DixonsCarphone warehouse have advised me my details have been breached and its up to me to be vigilant to any fraudulent activity - I have no idea who has taken my data or how this will affect me and feel super stressed.
You need to ask them what data has been breached. If its minor data (like name and address) then its no big deal. If its payment details data then its more important. So, these things need context. What can I do as an individual to stand up for my rights as its my time and energy thats going to be used due to their crap security systems?
If you feel that they are no longer suitable for you then you take your business elsewhere.
And perhaps be a little less wound up about it until you actually find out what data was shared.
Losses are relative to any loss you incur. you can sometimes get £25 or so inconvenience but if the data is stuff that you can get in the public domain anyway or not something that is going to impact on you then you will get an apology.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Unless you have already received contact from them about the breach I'm under the impression your data is not affectedEx forum ambassador
