Hi hope someone can help, Sky wont and on verge of cancelling the broadband.
Signed up to sky broadband in June after asking if the software on offer was vista compatible and assured it was. Received the router and software and for Mcafee it wasnt compatible. Sky then said they had given me the wrong info and passed me to their Mcafee team who gave me a 3 month "trial" until sky fixed their systems. It expired on 29th Sept and dispite numerous call, emails and a supposed new version of the software on disk it still isnt compatible.
To make matters worse they cant get my username set up correctly to download the software from the sky security site.
They now say they will cancel the 12 month agreement and allow me to cancel the subsription.
Has anyone had this issue before and any idea how they can fix it, dont want to leave sky and really dont want to have to pay for broadband.

Macaffe is generally regarded as crap, the best thing you can do is remove it from your PC.
The router has its own firewall as does Vista, if you feel the need for a third party one try Comodo or Zonealarm.
You should also get something like AVG Free antivirus and Superantispyware, also free.
There is no other software on the Sky installation disk that is required to connect to the internet, you can just plug in the router and off you go.
The username and password issue should be resolved by them, or just get yourself a google mail account, Sky are moving all of us over to their branded version of gmail by the end of the year. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I wouldnt lose any sleep over not having McAfee especialy if your getting free
broadband off sky, I use Windows Vista Firewall and the Free version
of AVG antiviruis it's kept well updated and touchwood have had no problems
since switching to Vista in the spring0 -
Hi,
I had similar issues with SKY when I first joined.
I have recently removed McAfee from my PC & am now running Comodo as suggested by the guys on here (THANKS) - my PC was running terribly slow, particularly at start up but is running much smoother now.
I use AVG anti virus & anti spyware too. I'm alot happier now.
I generally find that SKY CS for BB is poor. I just use internet explorer & have kept my AOL meail so use that as it's free anyway. I took SKY the best part of 9 months to sort out my username & password for my SKY login - I don't even use it anyway.
So keep your free BB & just dowload all the free security software & use a free email too - happy days!!0 -
Hi
I was told today that sky broadband sometimes has problems with windows vista, is that right or is it ok. Currently on sky and running xp but want to change the computer. Any advice anyone?:p0 -
I'm with Sky BB ans am running Vista home Premium, with no problems whatsoever.
Crapaffee might have problems with Vista, but I never used it or the installation disk so can't comment on that, but you don't need them anyway.
Merry Christmas. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
