Economy 7 with only immersion heater

I understand how it works but Im wondering how its working with my immersion heater. If it's getting full tank of hot water (150l, 3kWh) in 2,5h that's 7-8kWh, what's the point setting up heating water for 7 hours (for example 12-7am) if I can just set up 5-7.30 instead?
The immersion is fitted with a thermostat so the heater is only on for as long as it needs to be. Once the tank is heated, the heater will switch off anyway so it wont actually be on for the whole seven hours.
If you've got a time switch then you can reduce the on time and only partially heat the tank - try an hour and see if you've got enough hot water to last you. If not, try an hour and a half. Our tank reheats enough water in about an hour.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Your immersion heater will have a thermostat, so it will only use the electricity it needs to heat up.
Storage space heaters need the full 8 hour charge time.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I have a similar immersion set up and my night usage is 4 units a day. A fraction of this will be for fridge and freezer but not much else. But for me I am now with a supplies that has the same rate for day and night which means for safety reasons I no longer use the tumble dryer and machine machine when I am in bed.0

Is 8-9kWh per day sensible usage for 1bed flat couple living with immersion heater? Laptop tv fridge freezer chargers of phone lighting electric hob/oven. Standard usage0

That sounds about right for the summer, say 4kWh night and 4kWh day, but you say your heating is via elec panel rads so I would expect the winter usage to be more than that.0 -
Where is this "40% at night" coming from?
I am with Bulb and their standard tariff is around 14.3p and the e7 daytime tariff 16.4p, with night time being 8.9p. The daily standing charge is the same on both tariffs.
So for me it is 28% required during the night time. I have an immersion heater which can run every day at night time. Then things like timing the dishwasher and washing machine to come on at 6am should take me beyond 28% I believe.0
