Yes, you are correct.
And just a heads up as regards backdating. When the Carers Allowance is backdated this money is 'offset' against the ESA overpayment (as it should have been counted as income for your ESA and deducted from it) so you will not receive any backdating money for the Carers Allowance. You will just receive the backdated Carers Premium.0
