Private renting questions

Hi guys
I currently private rent through a letting agent. I have been here for 2.5 years and never had any issues.
Recently the gas oven/grill broke and was reported to the letting agents who said they would take it up with the landlord. After 5 weeks of phone calls/emails chasing up the replacement oven I finally got a new electric oven and it was installed. The oven had an electrical lead with a note at the end saying 'do not fit plug' . A 13amp plug was fitted by the guy who was working on behalf of the letting agent and plugged into the socket, the oven was down working and then he left. No paper work of the install was left nor did I sign anything. I just received the instruction manual for the oven. Within 24 hours the oven cut out on the second use and an electrical buzzing sound was heard from the socket the oven was plugged into. I unplugged the oven and tried a different socket through an extension and the oven began to work again but the first socket was dead when other appliances where tried on it. I contacted the letting agent and updated them. They have since agreed on 2 different times /dates to get the issue sorted but no one has shown up to repair the socket.
My question is did the oven need to be hardwired into the mains circuit in the first vplace or is a plug perfectly acceptable? (instructions manual says 13amp minimum but oven lead has tag saying 'do not fit plug')
Should the oven of been installed by a qualified electrician or someone who at least has part p?
Should any paperwork have been left after the installation? Why is it the plug socket is no longer working after the install?

Report ALL issues and repair matters to Landlord (yes, LANDLORD!), copy agent, keep copy, using process and draft letter from those nice people at Shelter here...

Look for a plate on the oven, usually on the inside edge of the door which should tell you the *maximum* wattage it can consume.
Up to 3kW is OK for a 13A plug and would not need to be installed by electrician.
Above 3kW that would need a separate circuit which should be installed by electrician if it is not already existing.0 -

However, for the purpose of repairs it is normal to write to the address for serving notices, aka Section 48 address, which should have been provided, probably on the tenancy agreement. If that has not been provided you can legitimately withhold rent.0 -

Landlord & Tenant Act 1985 Section 1:
However, your tenancy agreement should also provide an address "for serving notices on the landlord". This may well be c/o the agent. Write a letter addressed to the landlord (as named on the TA) and send it there.1 Disclosure of landlord's identity.
(1)If the tenant of premises occupied as a dwelling makes a written request for the landlord's name and address to-;
(a)any person who demands, or the last person who received, rent payable under the tenancy, or
(b)any other person for the time being acting as agent for the landlord, in relation to the tenancy,
that person shall supply the tenant with a written statement of the landlord's name and address within the period of 21 days beginning with the day on which he receives the request.
(2)A person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with subsection (1) commits a summary offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding level 4 on the standard scale.0 -
