Probably the most dull title you've seen all day for without doubt the dullest thread you'll read. Still here?

Just been across the footbridge linking South to North at NP services. Not been here for many years but I do remember that you used to be able to see out through clear glass walking across. Now most of the panels are obscure glass, and many others have black sticky plastic on blocking the view. One or two are still clear.

So I was musing as to the reason for this over my overpriced burger. I think it can only be one of 3 things. 1 - to stop people looking out, although I could only imagine the rationale, maybe people were hanging around up there, taking pictures, Stobart spotting; 2 - to stop any drivers passing getting distracted at any motorway service excitement going on, again a bit unlikely as other bridges aren't blocked; 3 - to stop it getting too hot in there.

Anyone know? Anyone still reading? If you are, how about the jaw dropping £1.48 per litre at the pumps there.

Not at those services, but ... when I was a kid one of the games we played was "car hopping" - jumping over cars as they passed under the bridge.

The "Rule of thumb" is to take the local price and add 20p/litre.

Of course, silly me, sub-section f) is the one specifying the percentage of floor area dedicated to sale of cheap mobile phone/iPad covers.

If the windows are obscured then it stops people with nothing better to do complaining that they haven't been cleaned since 1967.
