Ok guys will be completing tomorrow, as we have already exchanged.
What are the next required steps?
How do I find out who are the current utility providers and ensure they have the correct readings?

Suppliers should be listed on th Property Information Form or you can phone up the network operator...

Take pictures of the meters on day one when you move in.
Check also if there is a water meter.
Change all locks.

Usually under the small square plate on the pavement or possibly a brown box on an outside wall. Unless it is flats in which case could be anywhere but usually a communal cupboard ground floor.
Same situation - take photo, inform local water supply Company, AFAIK there is only one supply co per area.0 -

Re changing the locks.
What's the best way to do this. How do I find out the current lock system to ensure that I tell the DIY store I need a new lock for this key?0 -
You don't get a new lock for the key. It wouldn't work and if it did, then everybody would be coming into your house.
You get a new lock with new keys.0 -
Ask the vendor where all the meters are located and take pictures of the current readings.
Then instead of going to the same utility company that the Vendor was using like a sheep, either move your current energy provider if you are happy with them or get some new quotes from a comparison site and go with the best offer, NOT with what is currently at the property.
For the water supply AFAIK there is only 1 supplier for the area, again the vendor should be able to tell you their details.
Change all the locks to ensure you are the only party with access to the property from now on.0 -
You really should check on your PIF as to who the suppliers are for Elec and Gas. Take you readings and photo as advised above. You will go on to the standard rate with the existing supplier but you can then move to a better rate with them or transfer to another supplier according to your wish. The standard rate is significantly more so do this asap.0

That's not how it works sal_III,
The day you take over the property you are already in a deemed contract with the current suppliers, you need to contact them to give them readings and set up an account (if you are going to switch make sure you select a tariff with no early exit fees - usually the standard tariff). Only after you've done this are you able to switch to a different supplier.0
