Pay? Why would anyone pay unless they need a specialist website?

So many free options, you would be bonkers to pay.

Dont get your hopes up of being top of google unless you throw a ton of money at it. Attract visitors first from other free means.

Who are your visitors? Why your site and not countless others (guessing your site wont be unique, am i wrong)?

So many terrible sites, i visit looking for information and come away having learned nothing. Point of visiting?

You could actually just make it in microsoft word if its a literally a one page brochure type site.

Wordpress will produce a better site
The free website builders will produce a site very easily but not quite up to wordpress standards ..


Either will be "picked up by google" in the same manner
One thing to note is that you may or may not be able to install google analytics on a site created by free website builder

It's worth understanding how Google works for this kind of scenario. If someone searches for something very specifically related to your site's content and there are not many other sites that Google considers relevant, then your site will be ranked highly.

If, however, you are searching for a generic term such as "Buy XXX", where XXX is a generic description of your product area, and there are a lot of other relevant sites, then don't expect high ranking.

You can also pay Google to be listed as an Ad entry, but that can get expensive as IIRC, you are bidding in an automated auction to get each individual listing in someone's search.

If you have a gmail address try Google Sites. It is free, simple and easy to learn.
Wordpress has a learning curve to overcome before you can produce anything useful.

Wordpress is simple, quick, VERY flexible, and not THAT hard to pick up. There are many free themes, but Wordpresses own yearly templates are hard to beat.

I would have to say that going to a website builder is the easiest way to create a website. It's free (but you can also upgrade the features and personalize a domain by paying a monthly fee).
