  • Thank you all, I have considered selling the car I can get the train to work but one of my few hobbies is hillwalking and I need it to get there. Obviously if needs must I could sell but do I want the house and no life? it's four years old and economical so hardly flash. Like I say I am not ruling it out but not for now.

Apart from commuting (where the train is an alternative) it might be worth considering which other trips you regularly use a car for? Is there a car club near to you which you could join? Basically this gives you local access to a car when you need it for ad-hoc trips without the expense and hassle of owning one.

Alternatively over a year renting a car each time to go hill walking might be cheaper, depending how often you go, than owning and running one. Of course these are just suggestions but hope they provide some food for thought. Good luck in raising the funds you need!

Well today I have to go to the big city to pick something up - must also buy a father's day gift when there. I have balanced this with a quick visit to the tip.

Money making starts in earnest tonight alongside decluttering... Five items on the 'bay a week and out of this house, thinking ahead in case I end up with a flat...
    Mortgage OP 2025 £6750/7000
    Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

    Mortgage balance: £35,463

    Declutter 0/244

    Money making challenge £58/400

Well at the end of the day it's just a house, a flat would mean cheaper bills and less upkeep... DS hardly here as it is so not much point me rattling around here. I like the house but I'm not going to tie myself in knots to keep it, I shall attempt to get into as good a position as I can financially though (without selling the car!):rotfl:

Are you able to take out a loan for £5 so you can give it to him and then pay it back over say 2 years at a fixed amount each month?

I might end up doing something like that but would like to try and make it as small as possible.

    Hi there!
    Love the title ;)
Could you try reinvesting some funds from your decluttering and then reselling? I follow lots of people on Instagram who seem to do well from charity shop/boot sale buys and reselling on Poshmark/Gumtree/Bay of E/Fb?

I'm decluttering my wardrobe today- no easy task :rotfl:- and tempted to give it a whirl to generate some additional funds :)
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
