Can you claim for the cost of taxis when you've had to change airports?

Just trying to work out if we could do anything about the cost of taxis after having to change airports dye to a flight cancellation.
I've just got back from a hen weekend in Barcelona. There was 18 of us so a lot of people to organise. We arrived in Barcelona on Thursday and on Friday we were told that out flight home to Manchester had been cancelled due to the French air strikes but we could get a refund or fly home on Tuesday. As most of us were in work Monday we ended up getting a refund and finding an alternative flight. The only alternative flight we could get flew from Girona to Newcastle so we ended up having to pay for a taxi to drive us over an hour to get to Girona and the a taxi to drive us from Newcastle to Manchester when we arrived back in the UK. We also had to cancel an activity we'd already paid for in Barcelona as it was booked Saturday night but we all had to leave the apartments at 7am on the Sunday due to the commute to Girona.
I'm not sure if it's worth trying to claim or just accept that we've had to pay out more and had to deal with 12 hours of travelling.

Unfortunately you accepted a refund, and that was the end of the airline's liability to you. Can your insurance help?
Note that there is a good bus service between Barcelona and Girona, so it is unlikely that you needed a taxi for this journey.0 -
Thanks. We all have separate insurance but the organiser of the group (mother of the bride) sorted out and paid for all the flights and transport on her card and we've paid her back. The taxis were pre ordered before the flight had to be rearranged so she had to ring and change the destination as shed already paid the deposits.
So we need to work out if the insurance will let us claim to pay her back even though we didn't book anything
But thanks for your help0 -
Your insurance will probably have an excess as much as the taxi fares!0
