Thousands waiting on backdated disability personal independence payments.

It emerged this week that thousands of disabled people who claim the mobility element of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefits will have to wait until after the end of summer to receive the extra payments backdated from November 2016. Last December the High Court ruled that the Department of Work and Pensions policy in this area had been "blatantly discriminatory against those with mental health impairments." In January the government announced that it would not be appealing against the ruling.0
