I did take your original point Ivor but theverrors people are reporting seem to vary from person to person....and also from time to time!

Yes, sure, but are you facing the specific issue I described? Or does that particular bit of the website work for you?

I will just add a quote from one II customer:

"Some feedback (I urge all other users to post their own feedback in this thread. Hopefully the team responsible for what has happened will at least read it):

I was very much open-minded regarding this transformation, and hopeful that the changes would be an improvement.

The commenting functionality is actually better, enabling editing, the use of markdown and image posting. That!!!8217;s the only positive thing I can say. In every other respect the discussions are massively diminished.

The saddest and most regrettable outcome of all of this, speaking as a user of almost 10 years, is that there was an established community, with thousands of users who all knew who!!!8217;s who, and it appears you are going to flush all of that down the toilet. I can honestly say I!!!8217;m gutted at what you!!!8217;ve done.

This upgrade has turned out to be a colossal mess. Its abundantly clear that this project has been overseen by people without the first basic understanding of what matters in sharedealing, and what users valued in the old site. Leaving aside the general clunky reduction in usability, which has been mentioned by many, I would like to articulate a number of specific problems that this !!!8220;update!!!8221; has introduced which need addressing just to get back to a similar level of utility as it was before this debacle:

There are a number of features that have gone from the virtual portfolio, which drastically reduce it!!!8217;s usefulness almost to the point of it being pointless for me to continue coming here:

Virtual Portfolio no longer shows News Alerts. I will now have to use another platform to be alerted when an RNS comes out.

Virtual Portfolio no longer shows discussion alerts. The old one showed me at a glance when discussions were happening on shares in my portfolio.

Virtual Portfolio no longer includes other assets.

Virtual Portfolio no longer shows volume information, and time of last trade.

Virtual Portfolio doesnt fit horizontally on the screen, causing a horizontal scoll bar, making the table useless.

most of the prices are missing, especially after market close.

Moving on to the chart functionality, which is essentially devastated:

last price on the chart is from the previous day! Not much use.

time ranges severely limited. The old charts may have been clunky but were superior in every way to the Fisher Price charts they have been replaced with.

Charts no longer show volume information.

Charts no longer have technical indicators. I have no use for a chart which does not include volume, bollinger bands, moving averages, MACD, RSI and MFI. Will these be coming back?

Discussion has the oldest comment first, instead of oldest last, which is annoying.

All the useful information from the main company page is gone:

    No PE info.

No number of shares on issue

    No Dividend information.

    Factsheets for funds/ETFs GONE!

All RNS articles are gone! The site is no longer provides RNS releases as far as I can tell. How can this be called a !!!8220;research account!!!8221; when you have destroyed every useful research feature the old site had?

I really wanted this to be a success, and hoped it would be, but you have absolutely ruined it.

The long-standing community was one of the greatest assets you had, and you appear to have thrown it away. I truly hope you come to your senses soon.
    "
I would estimate that most users would have been happy to pay for the old site....but definately not the new one. Paying customers are threatening to leave some having lost services that they are paying extra for!

None of this is relevant to my question.

Yes, I was using a desktop when I checked. OP, maybe you need to clear your cache or do a hard refresh (normally Ctrl-F5).

Ok Ivor, I apologise for not giving a specific answer!

The reason being that that my screen (on a tablet) gives a completely different window when select etfs from the research drop down menu so a could not be specific....but was trying to point out that because it works for somebody else that should not be taken as an indication of error source!
If that were the case then there would be hardly a post on their discussion board that seem to contradict individual's problems.

As of this morning the drop down menu does not give an 'error message' but takes me to descriptive information regarding the asset types you mention. Not sure what that proves though!

As you have not found my posts useful I will not annoy further :) but wish you best of luck getting your issue resolved.

Ivor, I've looked at my research portfolio and looked at ETFs and I don't get the same problem (screen shot).

Having said that my web page is definitely under the II domain and not III, this is likely the problem and whilst you appear to have taken all necessary steps to clear cached pages etc the problem probably relates to this.

Can you try it on a laptop/PC you've never used before?

Or possibly a laptop/PC you have used before, but with a different browser.

I have started a thread with what I though was a different error but masonic tells me it could be the same issue.
If that is the case then, Ivor, I too have seen something similar (different menu item but a comms error message nevertheless).

    Thanks everyone.

If of any interest, this is what I've tried so far: two different computers, three different browsers on both, Windows and Linux operating systems, cleared cache and cookies on both computers for all browsers, performed flush DNS, checked DNS hosts file on Windows, temporarily disabled AV and firewall, pinged URLs.

The reason for the DNS related actions was because the screenshot shows that the URL being looked for is www3.iii.co.uk whereas the URL in the address bar is https://secure.ii.co.uk/webbroker2/select-list/etfs.sp. In other words I'm on the webpage https://secure.ii.co.uk/webbroker2/select-list/etfs.sp which shows the screenshot in my previous message.

I've spoken to ii but they're not aware on any problem nor had anyone else report it. I've spoken to my ISP who checked my broadband settings but they couldn't identify anything either.

The reason for asking on this forum was to identify whether it was just me that was facing this issue or if others were too, in the latter case I'd be able to go back to ii and tell them it's not just me. I don't have anything conclusive on this yet though - see next paragraph for explanation.

Two people in this thread have found that the webpage in question does not give them the error (thanks very much for checking and letting me know) so it really looks like it's just me; however, you need to have a trading account and access the "research" options from within that, on a device not using mobile data, and NOT from within the free research account - it's not the same thing. If you checked without logging in to a trading account then that's not providing any information that can be used regarding the issue. Given all the testing I've done it simply hasn't been possible to get to the bottom of what's causing it.

I have ruled the issue out as a computer, operating system, firewall or browser-related issue. But then, what could it be? Are there any IT developers within these circles?

    The mystery continues.
