#MSEStaycation - North

Options
Final round! Hopefully it's in the correct board this time!

We're taking on board some feedback we've been getting on social media. Alot of our travel content seems to be very London focused. So we're starting a little series called #MSEStaycation to bring to everyone some of the top joints to visit around the UK and we need your help.

We're covering the North of the UK this time, so send us over your best tips for someone
coming to the north on an #MSEStaycation including: how to
get there, where to stay, what to see/eat + any local gems you'd recommend.

    So basically Scotland:)
  • Or the Lake District, Northumbria, Yorkshire etc, etc. A lot of beautiful places are in the North of the UK.

Well done on finding the UK board this time ... did you ever define a staycation? Is it staying at home and having days out, or is it holidaying elsewhere in the UK?

Do you really mean the north of the UK? That's a huge area and these threads are going to be of limited use if they are too large.

I think a north of England and a separate Scotland thread would be better.

Definitely agree with this! Do you have any tips for us?

Took a while but we got there in the end. Currently working to migrate the others to the same board. In terms of Staycation, our vision was a vacation while staying in the UK. Do you have any tips for us?

Thanks for the feedback, just to keep it concise we've gone for the North of the UK.

"North of the UK" basically means everything north of Birmingham - a huge area.

There's so many cities to see, Liverpool, Manchester, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow are just a few of the larger ones. Each has museums and other attractions.

Lots of countryside too - Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire Moors, Northumberland and most of Scotland.

Plenty of beach/seaside resorts, Blackpool, Scarborough, and then smaller ones such as Morecambe, Whitby, South Shields.

Some major attractions including York National Railway Museum, Edinburgh Castle, Various preserved steam railways, various industrial museums, various science/life based children's centres.

You really need to be more specific as to geographical area. "North of the UK" is neither use nor ornament.
