HI what’s wrong with this,
my son looked at the camera and his face is all one white blob and the car reg is just a white rectangle
The installer has said it is because the infrared is so powerful and that is causing the faces to be white and unable to read car registrations at night.
Dahua say it is because the IR is turned off but i cannot find the option on my web browser to turn IR on.
The camera is just above the front door and about a metre or so away from my sons face and about 5 metres from the car reg.
It is quite dark as there are no street lights
What can i do to fix this issue?
This is the camera https://www.mayflex.com/product/DH-IPC-HDW4431EMP-ASE%202.8MM/4mp-epoe-wdr-fixed-eyeball-ntwrk-cam-2-8mm-ip67-ir
The Camera did not get purchased of the above company it is only for reference purpose's
Thanks

"It is quite dark as there are no street light"
With no IR all you would see is a black screen.0 -
So why are the number plates and the son's face white?Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0

So why are the number plates and the son's face white?
Number plates show up white because they are reflective so the bright IR light reflecting is too bright for the camera.
As for your sons face being white that will be due to his genetic makeup and ethnic origins of you and his mother... :rotfl:
But on a serious note it will be because his face is closer to the camera than other objects so the bright IR light makes it look overexposed.
It's like shining a light on an object in the dark and trying to take a picture of that object but also wanting the low lit items in the background to be clearly visible too.0 -
How would i over come these issues?++

You could try tweaking the contrast, brightness and contrast. But it looks like you're at the limit of the software and hardware.
A better camera would get you a better image that could scan faster, but you'd be moving out of the home type system to something more industrial.0 -
Get a better quality camera that does not need IR for low light conditions.
Fit a floodlight so the IR wont come on?
I have some old Panasonic B&W camera's and they are excellent in low light. A very large lens to filter what little light there is.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've just checked the next nights footage and we had the outside wall light turned on.
its not very bright but this time you xan make out his face vut not the car reg.
The cameras were supposed to be 6Mp and not 4 MP so thats being sorted.
the cameras are the same spec just 6 MP.

Its not about the MP, it could be 100MP.
But the sensor size and quality will increase the amount of light entering the camera. A decent low light camera does not need IR. Take a poor quality camera and add IR and it's far cheaper and works for most.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If the IR lamp on the camera is too bright some have an ability to adjust the power in software somewhere, otherwise try putting some sort of tape over the emitters so you dim the output a bit.0
