Planning permission

Afternoon
We have had double glazed windows for the last 20 years or so. I have decided its time to get some new one as the old ones had just about had it.
I got my quote and paid the deposit, I am now told that the company will not continue with the install unless I have planning permission. I asked for my deposit back and was told that they've started to manufacture the windows so you can't have that back.
We didn't need planning permission 20 years ago so I don't understand why they need it now.
I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on the matter.
Thanks

Planning permission for replacement windows is not uncommon, seems your window company is faffing around.
check the small print contract is clear and understandable, you have rights.
did you pay the deposit on a cc or finance ?
What type of property do you have and why have the window company asked for pp.0
