Im considering new flooring. I have two dogs so need something easy to keep clean. Under my carpet the flooring is concrete with cream coloured top. my thought is could I clean and polish this flooring and then use large rugs to warm it up?

Have you thought about lino / vinyl sheet flooring?
Some people are quite snobby about them, but we have the thick type in the dining room - I think 5mm. It provides a nice and warm floor, which is easy to clean. Our type is also quite textured so not too slippery for dogs.0 -
I'd second lino flooring. Luxury Vinyl Tiles are also good, but can get expensive - Although if you go for the click-loc type, dead easy to install yourself.
Plain concrete will absorb all the dirty paw prints and spills leading to a very messy surface unless it is sealed. Good quality sealers that will last are expensive and messy to install (also takes at least 24 hour to cure). Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
yes Im thinking of vinyl, however when ive looked at the floor it doesn't look bad at all. I think it is sealed? Its got a smooth slightly shiny finish at bit like tiles.0

Polished concrete can look pretty smart in the right environment. Very clean and modern.0

You say a creamy finish and also shiny .. so slightly puzzling. A power floated slab would be common if you home is circa 1980 onwards - although this would normally be a shiny light greyish colour. If power floated the surface will be rock hard, but it would still be best to seal it. The builders will not have sealed it - there was no need to do so.0

Can you post a photo, call me curious. My guess is that it could be a dust sealer or a paint on dpm perhaps.
Another thought, do you live in an area that is susceptible to radon gas? You can get paint on membranes. Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -
I dont know to add photos on here. its only an idea at the moment.
House was built in mid 1990s0
