HP registered keeper problem

Hello,
I am hoping someone with a bit of legal knowledge can help me.
If a car is on HP, whose name should legally be on the registration document as the registered keeper? I know the finance company would be the legal owner, but I am trying to find the legalities of the finance company keeping the car registered in their name on the V5.
Thanks

Legally, it doesn't matter. So long as the finance company respond timeously to any NIPs/s172 requests, which they will.0

Legally the registered keeper of the car should be on the V5. So should be the keeper of the car, more than likely the buyer/main user.
Are you buying a car that was owned by a finance company or are you taking out HP but dont want to be the RK?0 -

I am buying a car on HP, I want to be the RK, but the company are refusing to put it in my name until the HP is fully paid. But i have been told that my insurance is invalid if I am not the registered keeper of the car.0 -

Then simply find an insurance provider who will accept the situation.
Very easy, I think I used Admiral when I had this issue.Dwy galon, un dyhead,

1. Use a different finance house.
2. Use a different insurer.0 -

Who has told you your insurance will be invalid, an employee of your insurer or someone on an internet forum?0 -

I changed my car & phoned up my insurer who said that they wouldn't be able to insure me with this as the RK & LO must be me, I asked them what I could do & they refunded me the amount left on the policy & I called around & Admiral were able to insure me.Dwy galon, un dyhead,
