Old Style Daily Sunday 10th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning everyone

Another one here who colours their hair TA, I don’t think that I will suit grey/white hair so I’m not prepared to take the chance.

Csarina I hope that you had a good afternoon yesterday, it sounded like a good afternoon out.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday JackieO, it sounds like you have got a lot on next week you will need another holiday to recover.

    Have a good holiday ScarlettRibbons.

HH I hope that the move went well.

I finally finished cleaning the inside of the windows yesterday, so that is out of the way for a while.

Settled on having a wander around the town and did a bit of window shopping and then went to the park for the afternoon. I hadn’t planned on going to the park but the afternoon turned out nice and sunny so it was ideal.

Not sure what I will do today, so I will have another cup of tea and think about it.

    Have a good Sunday everyone.

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

It has rained overnight, looks like just a shower, and the sky is blue again. I have towels in the washer so am hoping for a decent drying day.

I need to do some ironing today and I have plenty of time as a friend was meant to be dropping in but has had to cancel.

No idea what to make for dinner, I have a freezer full of food and a lot of vegetables and no inspiration at all.

    Hope everyone's doing well.

  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. A misty start for us but the sun is set to burn through they say.

The ballet last night was absolutely lovely, though I watched a lot through teary eyes! Proud grandma or what! "Margo" and "Darcy" (thanks for the name NAN) danced impeccably and we were so proud of them. The meal beforehand would have been more enjoyable if I hadn't had to bolt it down! I ordered fish and it took so long to arrive I thought they must have been out fishing in the canal for it!! Mind you the place was very busy.

Nothing planned for today so hopefully a lazy day. Quite what I will be cooking is yet to be decided and will depend on what Mr TA feels up to eating. He seems to be able to eat less and less and quite a few people last night were shocked at how much weight he has lost, not to mention how bad his mobility has got.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where wanted/needed. Have a lovely holiday SCARLET RIBBONS. Take care all xx

    Morning All

No sun this morning, very warm but overcast. We had torrential rain yesterday evening and there had been a huge hailstorm when I was driving back from DS1s, it looked like snow all over the road, so glad I wasn't driving in that.

Trip to DS1s with DD was fabulous, I got to meet the Grandchildren! They are super kids, the two year old is completely bonkers! I'm on air this morning I'm so happy. Can't believe how far we've come since Christmas.

Anyway, back to earth. Nothing planned for today, just a lazy day for me pottering around the house I think. When I got home last night the washing had gone from the line - my lovely neighbour had taken it in before the rain came on.

Glad you enjoyed the dance show TA, what little stars you have.

Have a happy Sunday everyone, take care. XX

Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly.

Cloudy and overcast here at the moment, we had a fair bit of rain in the night as it woke me up a few times but the lawn is certainly looking the better for it.
Nothing pressing or urgent to do today so a relaxing one it is, have seen an advert for the Royal Norfolk Show and think we will book some tickets. You are allowed to take dogs as long as they are kept on leads, there are a lot of showing classes including heavy horses which are my favourite.
Lunch will be chicken with new pots and veg, strawberries for afters.

Glad you enjoyed the show TA.
So pleased for you that the visit went well Camelot :j

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all!

Dull and muggy here. The rain or thunderstorms didn't reach here for a change so I was out watering the garden at 9pm yesterday.

Camelot - I'm hugely pleased for you. :j:beer::j

TA - your pride shines through your words.

The only plan I have for today is to visit the neighbour who is making me a bench, table and chairs for the front garden. I say 'neighbour' as they are two houses away from me but it's three miles to there. Up a winding track which needs a lot of hardcore.

Yesterday morning I caught a bit of Saturday Kitchen when Nadia made a dessert from crisps, chocolate and peanuts - I'm going to attempt this concoction today or tomorrow.

I wish you all a very peaceful and happy Sunday.

    Morning everyone
Just having a quick read whilst eating my breakfast which I brought back up to bed. Quite foggy at the minute, but feels warm and hopefully the sun will get through soon. Weather forecast last night said we should start to get some of the really warm weather this week that everywhere else seem to have had...so fingers crossed!
Got the rest of my pots planted up yesterday....Homebase had loads of reduced plants and then 20% off. I might have another look this morning to see if theres anything for our garden at school.
My brother decided to leave by 4am this morning to pick eldest DD up by 7 as we discovered that the World Triathlon Championships are on in Leeds today and there's loads of roads closed, though it seems to be ok to get to her house. He just wants to get there and out again. He volunteered for this job four years ago when she first started uni and this will be his last 'pickup' as she's finished now.
Down to mam and dads at half 9 so she can go to church and then we're having Sunday lunch there. Then I'm hoping for a nice sunny afternoon in the garden.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday

Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to those in need, I hope Nelski is ok.
We stayed in th a marina last night as I had to leave at 4 to do some running around for DD2 who is carless this weekend I got home to the boat at 7:30. I walked a out 5 miles as well, opening locks and bridges and then walking back to collect the car. More of the same today and most of next week too.
    Have a good day everyone.

Hello, I've been MIA all week because our router broke and we had to wait for BT to send another (delayed because they didn't send it the first time we rang).

TA I'd be proud too. I'm lucky with my hair, I seem to take after mum who still had dark brown hair in her eighties. It's a relief because I don't know if I'd have the patience to die it. I also take after her in having a relatively unlined skin for my age, I have fewer wrinkles at 60 than many 40 year olds. Unfortunately I did inherit her families tendency to put on weight!

Camelot, I'm very pleased for you. Get well soon, Nelski.

We went across to DS' yesterday. DDiL has been having a torrid time at work and also family problems so has been quite stressed. Anyway she has been head-hunted and hopefully this week will be able to !!!!-a-snook at her horrible boss.

DH is at the gym and I want to do some housework here in Bedfordshire before we go back to Yorkshire tomorrow. I'd rather not go but the roofers haven't finished yet.
