why is All4 (channel 4) android app so big?

I am getting a bit tight for space on my android tablet. So when All4 ( the Channel 4 app) announced it needed an update, i was not entirely surprised when it told me there was not enough room, and I needed to delete something to make room.

What did surprise me when I looked at my apps was how large All4 was compared to everything else. BBC iPlayer is around 50 mb, ItVhub around 46mb, Netflix is ,around 72mb and Prime video a relatively large 195mb. All4 on the other hand is a stonking 2.39 GB .

Anyone got any idea why?

Must have cached a lot of adverts and show data, the download is only 16.49MB

As above, just clear everything then uninstall it and download the latest version.

ok will do that. The update request said it needed (,from memory) an additional 389mb before it could install the upgrade. Does it accumulate a !ot of ads?

If you're that tight for space I'd go in to all of the similar apps and clear the cache & downloads out. Worst case scenario is that you'd have to log back in and download something you've not yet watched.

Thanks for advice. Apps now down to manageable size and All4 successfully reloaded. Will keep an eye on it in future.
