Credit card debt - Payment Holiday advice needed

Guys,
Wonder if you can help me.
I am in shortterm finacial difficulty and find that I cannot meet my minimum payments on my 4 credit cards, I owe a combined debt of £20000.
I want to write them a letter to inform them of my difficulty and ask if they can devise a payment plan to bring me back into credit, or to give me a payment holiday, either way I would like them to suspend interest and charges payments.
Is this realistic to ask them to do this, and also any advice on how I should word the letter and what information I should give?
My situation.
I am changing jobs this month to a higher paid role by about £9k, but it has needed for my family to move home.
This extra financial burden of moving house combined with the transition between employments has caused the finincial difficulty, my wife had not worked but will be going back to work part time.
Ant advice you could give me would be most greatful :rotfl:
